Follow us on Twitter!

For those of you who are interested in following the new babies birth... Jeremy is going to be updating our Twitter account. He did this with Dave and it was pretty entertaining I guess. Unless you are the one being Twittered about!

Two weeks to go! And don't worry - there won't be any "before" or "during" pics... Just the after! :)

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is one of my favorite holidays. This hasn't always been the case. The first year Jeremy and I were married, he introduced me to the Memorial Day ceremony in Alta Vista and since then this holiday has been one of my favorites. Let me explain...

Obviously, Memorial Day is the first holiday off from work for what seems like forever... there is likely BBQ (which is the ingredient to any good holiday) and it's really the kick off to summer. BUT what people sometimes tend to forget is that Memorial Day is the day to honor those who have fought for our country in war.

The Memorial Day ceremony at the Alta Vista cemetary is simple, short, and full of meaning. The men from town that are part of the American Legion organize the ceremony and are responsible for decorating the headstones of those who had served in war and put up the flags lining the cemetary.

They had their work cut out for them this year as it was incredibly windy! Jeremy's dad, Richard, is holding the American Flag. I felt bad for those guys as every time a huge gust would come they would look like they would fall over!

The reason why the ceremony is so meaningful is because of the men that are involved in putting it on. These are men that I've known for several years now and Jeremy has known his whole life. I see them "shooting the shit" and gabbing like old guys at the bar but to see them in a serious light and know what they've given to our country makes the ceremony mean a lot more. This is the same for all of those that have given time to our country aross the United States. They are grandpas, fathers and people you cross everyday. People that you may not know have served and don't necessarily advertise that fact. It's people like those everyday men that have given the rest of us the opportunity to live in the world that we live today. And I, for one, am grateful.

David with "Papa Dada" as he calls him. Kinda a funny name but he gets that this Papa is his dada's daddy.

Easter

Our Easter celebration started Saturday. Jeremy was busy helping Maggie and Lucas move from El Dorado to Council Grove so Dave and I hit the Alta Vista Easter Egg hunt by ourselves. Grandma Lori and Papa Sam also met us there to see little Dave have so much fun at the hunt!
Sunday morning the Easter bunny came. My mom would always wake me up singing some silly song on holidays so to keep with tradition, I brought Dave his basket singing "Here comes Peter Cottontail" he was not impressed!

He was not interested in anything in his basket except the fruit snacks!

Sunday afternoon Dave and I headed to my Aunt Gale's house for lunch and an Easter Egg hunt. I don't have any pictures of the day! I was too busy chasing Dave and Easter Egg hunting all over the place! We had a blast and made it home just in time to meet Dave's little cousin Parker Dean. Dave loved him and was so interested in giving him kisses. Then was off to play. Hopefully his own baby brother will be treated sweetly like that too!

Much Needed Catch Up

Life has been pretty crazy lately... I've been meaning to catch everyone up on our lives but I just haven't taken the time to actually sit down and post. So - over an episode of GLEE on a Friday night and with Bella Boo sitting by my side and Dave "supposed" to be in bed but yelling "Bella" over and over I start my post... BTW - Glee might be one of the best shows on television right now. I'm sure everyone has at least watched or heard of the show a few times but I have really loved it from the beginning. I didn't even like Lady Gaga's "Born this Way" until the Glee cast sang it!
So let the update begin...

We've been doing a lot of this...

Dave likes to dress up in our laundry as we are folding it - apparently his favorite is Daddy's underware!

As the weather continued to get warmer outside - we started playing outside. Dave likes to play with daddy more now than mommy. Unfortunately, I can't pick him up and run around with him like daddy right now!

We've been boating - In the garage!
A few weeks ago Rachel came to Alta Vista and the next day we went to our friend Molly's shower. The shower was in Kansas City and was so very nice! We were in the car for forever - Rachel even longer than me as she had to drive back to Wichita that night but it was worth it. I can't believe how lucky I am to have such wonderful girlfriends!
